Product Questions

Magnesium Spray

Q: What is Magnesium Spray?

A: Magnesium spray is a topical product that contains magnesium chloride dissolved in water. It is designed to be sprayed directly onto the skin, where it is absorbed into the body.

Q: What is Magnesium Spray used for?

A: Magnesium is the 4th most abundant mineral in the body, and it's involved in over 300 biochemical reactions in the body, including:

Muscle Relaxation: Helps to ease muscle cramps, tension, and soreness by promoting relaxation of muscle tissues.

Pain Relief: Provides relief from chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia and arthritis by reducing inflammation and improving circulation.

Improves Sleep Quality: May enhance sleep by supporting the relaxation of muscles and calming
the nervous svstem.

Reduces Stress: Helps to lower cortisol levels and manage stress, contributing to overall mental well-being.

Alleviates Headaches: May help reduce the frequency and severity of headaches and migraines through muscle relaxation and improved blood flow.

Enhances Skin Health: Contributes to healthier skin by reducing inflammation and supporting proper hydration.

Supports Heart Health: Promotes cardiovascular health by helping to regulate blood pressure and support overall heart function.

Q: Magnesium Chloride is available in oral supplements and drinks, what is the point of applying it topically?

A: Applying magnesium topically can increase absorption by up to 90%. Versus taking an oral magnesium, where you may only absorb about 30%. Additionally, when applied topically, you will begin to experience the benefits in just 20-30 minutes.

Q: Where do I apply magnesium spray?

A: Magnesium is best absorbed through the soles of our feet, that is where the skins largest pores are. Alternatively, you can apply the magnesium directly to where you are experiencing discomfort (ex: legs for leg cramps, lower back for muscle pain, hands for arthritic flares, etc.)

Q: Why is my skin tingling where I sprayed the magnesium?

A: Individuals with low Magnesium levels may experience tingling sensations. This is perfectly normal. Increasing magnesium levels through a magnesium foot soak can alleviate this.

Q: Why is there a white residue?

A: Magnesium Chloride is a salt that can leave behind a fine, white powder or film when it dries on the skin. When the water in the spray evaporates, the magnesium chloride reverts to its solid form and can create the white residue that you see. To minimize the residue, consider spraying less on one area. When you do apply the magnesium, massage it into the skin.

Whipped Tallow / Tallow Balm

Q: What is Tallow?

A: Tallow is a rendered form of beef fat (sheep fat is also referred to as tallow, but here we are using and referencing beef). The tallow that I use for skin care is rendered from the beef suet, which is the fat encasing the liver of the beef. This is the most nutrient dense tallow. Beef tallow rendered from muscle fat should be used for cooking, candles, etc. While this tallow can still be used for skin care, it is no where near as nutrient dense. That's why we only use suet rendered tallow.

Q: Why Tallow for skin care?

A: Moisturizing: Tallow contains high levels of oleic acid and stearic acid, both of which are nourishing for the skin, helping to replenish moisture and lock it in. It's particularly beneficial for dry or sensitive skin.

Rich in Nutrients: Tallow is naturally high in vitamins A, D, E, and K, which are important for skin health. Vitamin A, for example, supports skin regeneration, while vitamin D can help with inflammation.

Similar to Human Skin: Tallow's fatty acid profile is similar to the oils produced by human skin, making it easily absorbed without clogging pores.

Anti-inflammatory: The fatty acids in tallow can help soothe irritated or inflamed skin, making it useful for conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and acne.

Q: Will Tallow clog my pores?

A: The likelihood of Tallow causing clogged pores is low. Tallow scores a 2 on the comedogenic scale (which is a scale for raking how likely it is that certain oils and butters will clog pores). 2 on the scale rates "moderately low likelihood". Paired with Jojoba oil, which scores a 2 also. Our "clear complexion" Tallow blend contains hemp seed oil, which scored a 0. Keep in mind, a little tallow goes a long ways. No matter how compatible with our skin tallow is, it's possible to apply too much!

Q: Will the fragrances irritate my skin?

A: Many folks opt for "fragrance free" skin care, with good reason. The artificial fragrance oils can be so harmful for sensitive skin. However, our products are all crafted with high quality, pure essential oils. You can safely use any scent you like, and not worry about any artificial fragrances irritating your skin. We offer several different blends for every need. Our "clear complexion" blend contains skin healing and acne fighting oils like birch oil and helichrysum. And the chamomile Tallow is safe for children, infants, and those with extra sensitive skin. And we do still offer an unscented tallow option.

Q: Where do you source your Tallow?

A: Our Tallow is rendered from Pasture-Raised and Grass-Fed beef from my family's farm. I process the tallow from start to finish myself.
